Lacie Droppng Frames

My brand new LACIE firewire hard disk is droppring frames like mad - my Maxtor doesn't (never has) neither do my other stationary hard disks - were does one start trouble shooting?

P-S. The only difference can see it that the MAXTOR is FAT32 and the new LACI is NFTS - would that make a diifferance?

FAT vs. NTFS won't make a difference with frame dropping.

Make sure you don't have any other 1394 cards in the system. They can conflict. You can usually disable one or the other with jumpers or setup controls. Look in Control Panel, System, hardware devices.

There is a Windows XP patch for 1394 that might help. There is a different one for XP SP1 and SP2. The SP1 patch is discussed here:
