Laptop - Sony etc

I am researching the purchase of a new laptop. Right now I have
narrowed it down the the HP dv8000 and the new Sony FE series which will be available this month.

When I was customizing the Sony there were three options for Video
Software; Video Premium, Plus & Standard.

I was surprised to see that the bundled software for the Premium & Plus was Adobe Premiere LE and Adobe Premiere Full. Why would Sony offer a competitors brand? Is it because the divisions are totally autonomous from one another? Why wouldn't they offer Movie Studio & Vegas instead?

This comes up a lot. Sony Electronics is TOTALLY autonomous from Sony Media Software and Sony Broadcast. The various arms of the companies barely speak, and it seems no one in each division knows his/her counterpart in the other divisions. Hopefully this will end with Stringer at the helm, but I doubt it.
Rumor has it that the Vaio division entered into a long term agreement with Adobe, but who knows what's real. Kinda funny though...It's like buying a Jeep that has a Volkswagen engine in it.
I've had 14-15 Vaio's over the years, and loved em' all. The only reason I don't have a brand new one now, is the delay of the launch of the FE series. I'm waiting for one of those myself.

Thanks, Spot. That's kind of what I thought. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

On the FE I'm definitely going with the 5400 RPM drives; 2 x 80GB I think. What's your thought on the NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7400 v. the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950? Worth the upgrade?

The upgrade won't benefit Vegas one way or the other, so I'm likely not buying it. Still gotta get my hands on one first.
