Latency Problem / Sony Vegas 5 !!

Hi to all forum mates,

How to get rid off the latency problem while recording on Sony Vegas 5 version software? My recording does not line up or match with the music but vocals starts little earlier than the music.

Suppose if the same problem exists on other recording softwares than does this means??

Love to all forum mates.

Does it render in sync? If so, it may be the video file type, Vegas doesn't playback/preview MP4 and other video file types very well. You can create a proxy file for the edit, then switch back to the original for rendering.
It could be CPU hogging plug-ins as well.

Thanks for your reply. I do not work on videos but only doing the audio recordings.

I am working on windows xp.

What will you say now.

Thanks.

Sorry I didn't see 'recording'.
Sound card? Settings? ASIO?
Have you tried changing the record and/or PB buffer settings?
Other software running in the background?
RAM?
No simple answer..
Peruse the SCS knowledge base to start. For instance:

There is no 'latency problem' with Vegas. Latency is an implicit aspect of sound-card drivers.

To minimise driver/hardware latency use an ASIO driver for you audio interface, and select a setting that enables your system to work with a sensible CPU load balance.
