Hopefully Magix will put out an update for Vegas Studio that supports the new nVidia API asap. nVidia has now abandoned CUDA and NVENC for a new API as of driver version 415.x

Why????
I have driver version 416.34 installed

and have in the only Vegas version that can be updated yet
full use of the NVENC option.

and that Cuda- use in some very old versions were not that good and besides that Magix cannot update old Vegas Movie Studio versions at all.

Just because the option is there, doesn't mean it works. I see no reason why Magix couldn't recompile THEIR CODEC with the latest nVidia SDK and release a patch. I have several other editors and nVidia driver V415.x and higher broke all the hardware encoding and decoding. I haven't gotten around to testing VMS yet. Maybe I can find some time this weekend.

driver 416.16 installed, the hardware encoding seems to work just fine with magix h265 hvenc, at least my render times are what I'd expect them to be when it works, and taskmanager shows the video encode part being used.

rendering a 1440p 59.94fps video here. using VMSP15

edit: though, what doesn't work is the editing gpu acceleration, transitions, scaling/rotation/etc and such are slow to render. The editing gpu acceleration worked fine on the last 300-series drivers I was using.
