Latest update to Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum

Tony-Savage wrote on 6/6/2021, 4:29 AM

I have just accepted and installed the latest upgrade to Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum (Build 221).

It no longer works with the 240FPS video footage (432 x 320) from my Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 camera (.MOV format).  It is very erratic, with thousands of blank video frames.  It displays the first frame but, as soon as I play the footage in the editor, it goes blank.

Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum worked perfectly before the latest update, but I now find I have to use my previous version of Movie Studio Platinum 13.0 to edit my video’s.

Is there a fix for this bug?

@Tony-Savage Have you checked if 'Enable the QuickTime plugin' is selected in Options/Preferences/Deprecated Features'?

@Jack S
I have now, Jack, but it hasn't cured the problem, even after a reboot. 🙁
When I play the video footage, the frame count appears and incriments in the preview window as normal, but the window is blank for the majority of it. I get the odd few frames that appear at random, but the majority is blank. I've been using Movie Studio for years without problems - until now. 😉

Rather than going back to MSP13, consider uninstalling your current MSP17 version and re-installing the previous build. I'm not sure about which build number this would be, but have a look at the download links for the previous builds at:

Scroll down the page until you get to MSP17.

Tried that and it cured absolutely nothing. Download build is still 221 and I still have the same problem - Blank Video. 😒

@Tony-Savage It's worth trying a full reset.

Point 14.
The post is for Vegas Pro but it works for MSP as well. Make sure that you hold down Ctrl+Shift until you see the reset dialog. Also make sure that you check the clear cache box. Note that you'll lose some or all your configurations, so make a note of them.
