Latest Win10 Update caused activation issue

Reyfox wrote on 2/12/2020, 6:26 PM

The latest Win10 update, at least on my computer, caused VP17 to have me deactivate the same computer that it was activated on. I have another hard drive in my computer that I have a fresh Win10 install and plan on migrating things over to it slowly.

So to be safe, I deactivated VP17 on that NVME drive in the same computer. Activate VP17, and it now appears in My Account as being activated TWICE to the same computer with the same specs. So I deactivated the "oldest" version and now VP17 lives.

Just strange how this happened. Here is a screenshot of VP16 that shows it's activated twice to the same computer. Weird. Looking further, I see the same thing listed for both VP14 and VP15.

Been a while since I’ve been on here. I’m sorry you’re having weird activation issues with Vegas Pro 17 and other versions. It’s certainly bizarre. Out of curiosity, what Windows update created this weird issue? I hope you manage to resolve it mate, either by yourself or with someone’s help on here. By the way, did you get a new PC or just upgrade? I assume the latter. I know that Ryzen 9 3900 is pretty awesome!

It happened in February. I built a new PC going from 1700X w/16GB RAM to the 3900X and 32GB RAM (room for another 32GB) and I always reinstall fresh Windows. So I was migrating over to the 1TB NVME when I found out that I could not activate on the drive. I figured this will be the last PC I build. When the price of the 3950X drops way way down, that will be my next upgrade. Same with PCIe 4.0 hardware.

I had to deactivate both activations from VP14-17. Yes, each version, which was only activated once had two activations for the same PC.

It was a minor inconvenience and all is well.

Thanks for asking!
