Have Layla 24 audio card.
During editing, for no apparent reason and at random times, the audio and video begin playing back in slow motion (about half speed). If I record narration, it records at half speed, later to play back at double speed (and it can't be fixed easily, if at all).
Either have to close and reopen Vegas or close and reopen "capture tape" app inside Vegas to restore settings. Very weird.
Solution is to turn off system sounds in the Windows Sounds control panel. (You know, like it says to in the Layla owner's manual.)
System sounds are recorded at 22KHz. My Vegas projects are at least 44.1 and probably 48KHz.
When the Layla senses a system sound coming across (either an arriving email or even a mouse click or other Windows "boink" sound) it switches itself to 22K and stays there.
Turning off system sounds allows the Layla to stay at the desired operating frequency.
