leaving the forum...

Hi guys.
I have been thinking and it seems i am spending way too much time on the forum. On top of that, it has come to my attention that i may have upset one or two folks here, and that is regrettable. Being a bit too vocal at times doesn't help matters. So, just thinking about things, i have decided to take a big step back away from the forum. I have no idea if this is permanent or just a for long time.
Its time to take stock of other matters in my life and move on.
I also want to say a massive thank you to you guys! this is an extraordinary forum like no other i have seen before, with so many talented and knowledgeable people all passionate about Sony Vegas. And that's me too - even if i do dislike the way it handles video levels! (and i'm stopping right there).

And Happy Christmas season to everyone also. I do hope i helped at least a few people on the forum along that way, and i have learned so much from you guys and its been a real education over the last few years.

Cheers and good luck. :)

Paul.

You have helped many more people than you know. DO NOT let this get to you...you know what to do and what to not do....continue with your best foot forward. DO NOT, please, please, just decide to pack-up - your contributions are much appreciated.

wow, what's a forum without a little argy-bargy?

go and spend xmas with your family and friends, then come back to where you're REALLY appreciated.....

I'm very saddened by this.
It goes to once again prove that the way to win an argument on the Internet is to keep repeating the same drivel until all the sane people give up and leave.

Seems like a post like this pops up every 30 days. Is this a form a internet forum shell shock?

Where is the new update for V12 enabling gpu rendering? That is the real question.

I was on this forum for many years, then left a few years ago when some folks began arguing politics and religion.

Fortunately, that is not happening any more.

I am not aware of the issue(s) involved, but by all means take some time off and enjoy other aspects of life. Perhaps in the coming weeks or months the forum discussions will feel more "mellow" to you. They certainly do for me, compared to a few years ago.

Best regards.

How about vacation from the forum? That is what I have been doing.

Sometimes it helps to get away for a while but only for a while.

Paul - I'm genuinely sorry to hear it. You have helped me over the years with your input on this forum. Thank you - I appreciate it.

Still, I understand it. I have not spent as much time on this forum lately and don't know what the final straw was for you. But, I hope you'll enjoy all that is important to you and decide to come back here from time to time.

Paul massive thank you to you too.
personally I apply levels etc to how and what I understand. if my understanding needs adjusting, no problem.

Hope to see you soon.

Paul,

Fortunately we have a fantastic Search feature on this forum that goes way back. If you take a look, there are others who have made great contributions to the forum, have gotten frustrated in one way or another, and said they were leaving. Fortunately most of them returned because if you participate in a lot of other forums you begin to realize how good this one is and most of all how helpful thanks to the genuine desire of it's members to help the others.

I hope you change your mind.

Regards,

John

A few years ago, I happened to notice that a video edit timeline looked a lot like the audio editing timelines that I was used to and thought I would have a go at it. After a brief and frustrating couple of weeks trying to get my head around Final Cut Pro (version 2 I believe), I loaded a trial copy of Vegas 2 on a P3 laptop and immediately felt at home. I got further in the first hour with Vegas than I had in weeks with FCP.

Since that time, this forum has been invaluable to me. I really have learned most of what I know about video here, or through resources that I learned about here. Over the years, what started as a hobby has become a livelihood, and I really must say, I love doing what I do. I have left the forum a time or two briefly, but I've always come back. Nowhere else let's me have involved conversations about the fine points of this craft that are such an important part of my life.

The projects I do are all very small scale. I do local ads, videos for my church, and every so often, a documentary. While the projects are small scale, the end quality is so much better than I ever imagined I could get, and really that is thanks to all of you. There is something therapeutic about being part of a group which works together to improve the quality of the art form which they all love. I've been here for years and I'm here to stay.

In every community there will be as--holes for lack of a better term, Paul.
They are few, but sprinkled about all the earth.
Most don't know they are and have not a twinge of regret when they offend..
It's a sociopathic trait that won't likely change,
The lion's share of the people on this forum are decent folk who value friendships and exchanging information for the common good.
Many do so with extreme generosity!
So let this be adios and not goodbye my friend!
A joy filled Christmas to you and yours.
