legal question re-use Vegas 4

Know this has been discussed before, but cant find it.

I have upgraded to V5 and wanted to install V4 on my son's PC for a school project he needs to do. Is this legaly allowed?

You should be ok. I sold my V4 to my buddy and Sony gave him a new serial number and told him he could not upgrade beyond V4. I used my old V5 serial numberand there was no problem for my V5.
