Lenght of Generated Media Event?

Hi all:

How can I accurately change the length of a Generated Media event?

For example. If I place a Media Generators/Solid Color/Black onto the timeline, the length seems to have been defaulted to 00:00:09:29. I can left-click/drag to change the length of this event, however, this dosn't seem very accurate. I'd like to be able to set this event to an exact value like, say, 3 seconds exactly.
I've tried to type in an exact value into the text box that shows 00:00:09:29, but the Length of the event does not seem to change.

Can I set an exact value for the Length and if so, how?

Thanks so much for any suggestions....

-Mike

If you type a new duration in the length won't change immediately, but there should be a notch at the top to show the shorter duration - just drag the edge to this notch. (If you've increased the length, drag the edge out till the notch appears.)

A "better" way of being accurate, is to create a selection prior to inserting the Generated Media. Right click inside the selection and choose "insert Generated Media" or Text. In the lower right corner of Vegas, you can type in a specific value for the selection.
This will size your Gen/media to the determined length

Thanks for the responses. :-)

DSE, may I ask a question?
I'm not sure how to do what was suggested. How do I "create a selection"? I've attempted several things and read in Help but am not sure I understand how to do this?

Any more details?

Thanks so much :-)

Click on the timeline in a blank area or in the playhead area in the top of the timeline, and while clicked, drag. This will create a grey or blue selection, viewed as the area between the two lines this will create. Or, you can click on the timeline, hold Shift, and click where you'd like the selection to end, this too, will create a selection. If the length isn't exact, just type in the length.
Alternatively, you can type in the In point of the selection in the far left time indicator window found in the lower left of the Vegas interface, and type in the Out point in the middle time indicator window found in the lower left of the interface. There are also keyboard shortcuts.
Lots of ways to skin a cat in Vegas. :-)
