Lens Correction Issues

ericsport wrote on 9/2/2025, 6:10 PM

Hi, so I have this footage taken by an IPHONE in a car of a passenger, it is distorted for whatever reason and is stretching the person's face. I used Lens Correction fx, it didn't have a preset for IPHONE, so i played around with the radials and adjusted it to where the face looks right, but it squeezes the frame. I tried to crop the now black areas around the pinched frame but that doesn't seem to work.

Is there a better solution out there?

Using Vegas Pro 22, on a Powerspec PC with a 4080 gpu and 32 gb of ram.

Just try manual parameters. But you have to use crop if you want to unsqueeze the frame by using plugin because it's not fisheye lens, it's rectilinear lens.

@ericsport Using the same camera settings film a place where there are lots of straight lines, like tall buildings, street lights, paving stones or rd markings etc & make that video look correct using whatever fxs you need to straighten out the lines, then save that as a Preset.

(Filming straight lines outdoors might give a different result to filming straight lines inside in a room due to perspective etc, so try both & create presets for both)

That will give you a good start in making the video of the woman look correct but there will be some cropping to do, there's a few ways to crop the image.

I tried to crop the now black areas around the pinched frame but that doesn't seem to work

What do you mean 'It doesn't seem to work' ?
