Hope this helps others save over 100 hours of trouble
shooting and a lot of money trying different things. I was
determined from day one to get VV working as advertised and
can finally say I am now a proud VV Editor. The following
is a summary of things I experienced and learned the hard
way and have also seen on this forum over and over.
- Why only OHCI Cards? Why can't I use other cards like
Pinnacle and Matrox? That's what I thought so for a month
I was importing AVIs from my Pinnacle DV500, making cool
videos, but come render time I ended up with complete
garbage. Why? Because my DV500 Codecs were automatically
over-riding the VV codecs and destroying my final
production. If you hate Premiere and love VV as I do, get
DV500 off your machine and keep it off. Buy a cheap Pyro
Card, install it, and throw away the CDs that came with
it...
- But how do I then get legacy analog and live analog
(DirecTV, cable etc.) to DV format? Easy, buy a Sony DVMC-
DA2 for under $400.00
- My camera goes bonkers when I try to Print to Tape using
SF VV Capture. Yet other programs like MediaStudio Pro are
working great. I can even Print to Tape MediaStudio Pro
clips using VV Capture, just not the VV rendered clips.
This absolutely has to be a software issue with VV!!! I
have the biggest bad ass system on the planet and this
can't be a hardware problem. NOT... If using WD 7200 RPM
HDDs like I am, ensure that you have enabled DMA on all of
them in control panel/system/disk drives. This fixed
everthing for me!!!!!
- I can't tell you how much I learned just buy surfing
around this forum, www.videoguys.com, and www.cnet.com as a
few starters...
Now I am just looking forward to some cool 3rd party plug-
ins to start rolling onto the shelves soon...
And for Mr. You Know Who, who can't seem to find the right
forum or a life, oh never mind, some battles just aren't
worth fighting...
