Letterbox

When I select NTSC DV Widescreen from Project Properties I get pillared image instead of letterbox.
Any suggestions on why this might be happening?

Is your video element Widescreen?

because you're putting a 4:3 clip on a 16:9 screen. letterbox is 16:9 on a 4:3.

HappyFriar is right. If you want your 4:3 video to look 16x9, you need to change the individual clip properties as well.

Otherwise, it will pillarbox.
