LFE channel??

I am mixing a 5.1 DVD using Vegas 4 and I notice that nothing plays out of the LFE channel (or my subwoofer). I was under the impression that a low-pass filter diverts everything below 120Hz to the LFE channel. Appearantly I am wrong here? Does anyone know how to utilize LFE information for a subwoofer in Vegas???

I think you can configure the LFE channel to pickup bass either when you encode or in the decoder settings in the player.
