LG GSA-4040B + DVDA

Hi, I recently purchased an LG GSA-4040B DVD writer (writes +/-R, +/-RW). I am using Datawrite 4x DVD-R discs and so far the end result has been coasters.

After preparing+burning with DVDA succesfully (according to it anyway) I am left with a DVD which neither my standalone player (Samsung SV-DVD40) nor my internal DVD-ROM can read. Both the burner and the DVD-ROM sit in an infinite loop trying to read the disc unsuccesfully. I have tried writing at both 2x and 1x with the same result.

So far the only thing that has worked is preparing the DVD, and then burning the prepared files using NERO, but it would be great if I could somehow get DVDA to do it all...

Has anybody got this burner/DVDA combination to work? Any tips or tricks or anything?

Thanks!

Hi - I have also this writer but haven´t tried to burn with DVDA since the writer don´t show up in the "burnwindow" in DVDA.
I prepare in DVDA and burn with Nero with great result.
Its odd that DVDA doesn´t recognize this popular writer which has so good test results in data magazines.
Perhaps the upgrade we are waiting for resolves this.

I have this burner and have had no problems at all with Maxell and Verbatim. I had the "infinate loop" problem with Memorex while trying to read after DVD-A reported "Successful" but it played in the guy's set top (Apex) who gave me the Memorex -R blanks.
