I have a new La Cie Lightscribe burner and have burned several DVDs but haven't tested them all yet. However, I HAVE noticed significant instability on the first one I burned. A week or so after I burned it, and for what reason I'm not quite sure, I noticed that it's layers were literally separating, peeling away from one another. I'm guessing it was the print layer that was coming apart, and perhaps extreme temperature variation had something to do with it (long story), but there were no such problems with the regular DVDs I had with me, and no problems with the other HP Lightscribe DVDs I had in the pile. This leads me to believe that there may generally be instability with the medium, and this might exhibit itself in the way you describe.

Don't you need special Lightscribe-compatible disks?

Lightscribe's a joke. What at one time seemed promising, has turned into a pain in the butt. LONG label burn times, etc. It ain't worth it.
