azza5570 wrote on 1/21/2021, 5:17 AM

Hello Guys, Great to find the forum, and I am hoping you guys might be able to assist? I am trying to find a wipe/Transition in Vegas pro, BCC or Sapphire to use on a project. A clip below shows the wipe/lieaner/clock I am trying to create. it is from 2m07 on wards - any ideas? I have tried looking around the forum and other places but failed, maybe I am not quite sure what I am looking for, best way for me is to show the video hehe.

Cheers Guys

@azza5570 - Hi there! Great to see Ole’ Big Head amongst those clips. So, the Transitions take the narrative through of the Compass 🧭 Spinning through the Uk regions, got it! Nothing immediately springs to mind. There’s plenty of Time Clock Wipes, but that will only do so much. I suppose one COULD get funky with several Tracks to configure a Spinning Compo using Track Motion?

Im interested, maybe there are others here who can put their collective fingers on it.

PS: Here’s some of my favourite sayings of Ole Big ‘Ead:

I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one.

They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but I wasn't on that particular job.”

What you see at 2:07 in this video just needs an appropriate grayscale image to feed Vegas Pro's Gradient Wipe.

Hi Marco and Grazie - I am not sure how you mean I could do that and if so with which Grad Preset? I've been at this for a week now and just cant figure it. Thanks again guys, much appreciated.

The Gradient Wipe plug-in of the Vegas Pro transitions can do this. You need to use a gradient image file such as the one attached below, feeded into the Gradient Wipe plugin.

And this is how that wipe looks like in Vegas Pro:

That is exactly what I am after, though I must be totally thick as I am still unsure how to do it - i blame lockdown and brain freeze - I guess its quite simple, but can I do it, Nope lol

Do you have success for the first part of the process – applying the Gradient Wipe transition plug-in?

Hi Marco - I've gotten as far as making a gradient - then I lose myself totally lol

Marco. wrote on 1/21/2021, 7:38 AM

What exactly do you mean by "making a gradient"?

azza5570 wrote on 1/21/2021, 7:42 AM

all I have so far :(

I still don't know what you have done. No way to help from this point.

If you want the same gradiant that Marco created, right click on it and save the image.

Hi Chaps - what I have at the moment is 8 (2sec) clips on the time line, I am not quite sure where I am going from here? Before I used the clock wipe on them but it's not quite the same. I am confused with where I go to into Transitions to achieve this? I am using vegas pro 18 if that helps? All I see in transitions is the gradient wipe with lots of various presets? Sorry to be a utter pain in the back side.

In the Gradient Wipe plug-in window click onto the "Browse" button and select a gradient image like the one I showed in my second comment.

@Marco. - I like this. I like this 👍.

I think I've cracked it, thanks to your template Marco - the one I did it wouldn't pick up - any problems I shall return - a huge thanks once again guys. BCC Extruded question later possibly hahah

If you want almost unlimited flexibility and a huge supply of mask types, look at Pixelan SpiceMaster 3 plugin for Vegas. Nothing else comes close.

Masks (Spices in SpiceMaster)

Default softness = 20 so there is a fairly large transition between the image edges:

Softness = 3 so there is only a small transition between the image edges:

Some other effects added - Texture and Border with colour:

You can adjust Softness, Texture, Border, Shadow/Glow, Bevel/Ripple, and PiP, Title Graphics & Matte - each with multiple controls. You can keyframe most effects.

Vegas Pro 18 Edit, Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum, Magix Video Pro X16, Magix Movie Studio Platinum 2024, Xara Designer Pro X19, Samplitude Pro X8 Suite, Music Maker 2025 Premium, SF Audio Cleaning Lab 4, Sound Forge Pro 16 and more.

Ive just purchased it :) thanks for the share. Now I've got the gist of this wipe, but it seems bit slow at points?

@azza5570

Hi,

I did this tutorial several years ago for Movie Edit Pro. Everything in SpiceMaster should be about the same. SpiceMaster 3 came out a couple of years ago with a larger interface. There are two more on my YT channel.

Let me know if you want something more specific, and what.
