List of Commands?

Can anyone point me to a list of commands that work for Movie Studio 8? I've been struggling with this program for several years and can't find a way to make it do anything since nothing in Help actually works. All I want to do is cut off or trim some at the beginning and end of a video but can't find any way to trim it . Tks.

The most straight forward way is to move the cursor to where you want to trim and press the S key to split the video. Then you can click on the part you don't want and press the Delete key to remove it.

The simplest way to do it is to grab the end of the clip and drag it to the trim point.

Not really sure what else to tell you. The best place to get a list of commands is the in the Help. I've always found it very useful. There might be some features of the full version of Vegas Pro in the help file that don't apply to the Studio version, but they should be marked as such. That being said, i learned almost everything i know about Vegas just by playing around with it. Click everything and see what happens. Right-mouse-button click everything. Drag everything. Ctrl-drag everything. Try every combination on every area of the screen. Almost everything does something and lot of the features explain what they're doing on the screen as they do it.

Play. Explore. Have fun. :)

Thanks, I stumbled across a way to do it by dragging the mouse ABOVE the time line to select the part I wanted to save then pressing Ctl T to trim away both ends.
The Help has been useless since none of it is close enough to work. It's kind of close but just different enough to be frustrating. For instance Help says to drag the cursor to make a selection but doesn't tell where to drag it. I had assumed you would drag it over the video or somewhere on the time line but it turned out to be above the time line where there isn't anything. None of the Sony video tutorials are worth anything either since I can't see any details in the picture. I wonder why they would go to all the trouble to make videos that are useless and Help that never works?
It's no fun when every step is an obstacle that doesn't work and there's no way to find out how to do anything.

Help->Keyboard Shortcuts

It sounds as if you are having difficulty following the Help and Tutorials included with the program. If this is the case, there are many free resources available by searching the internet.

Difficulty is an understatement since none of the Help commands work and the video tutorials are worthless. Now I've got the program screwed up by experimenting with settings and can't get things back to where I can even use it and closing and restarting the program doesn't work to restore it. Is there some way to restore the default settings? I hate to delete the program since I spent good money on it and can't afford a better one.

Hold down the Ctrl and Shift key while launching VMS to restore default settings.

Search for tutorials on this site and on youtube. Lots of information on VMS how tos abound.

You might find the list of shortcuts I published at:-

helpful. Although it's headed Vegas 6 it works for later editions but it is geared to the Pro version of Vegas.
