Yes...If you want a random shake the length of a clip:
there a plug-in for VirtualDub called "deshaker filter"

http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/articles/deshaker_guide.htm#Advanced

There is also an interesting clue at the end of the tutorial. It seems that it works in two passes. The first pass generating a logfile with the moves, which are applied on the second pass. Now if you do a first pass on a clip that is genuinely shakey then apply that log to a clip that is smooth it should generate shake.

Best Regards

You might also want to look at the new effects for Vegas from New Blue FX which has a couple of tools that add "shaking".

I second the New Blue FX. I just did a title sequence where I wanted the titles to vibrate and jump around and ended up using the New Blue FX's camera movement presets. Looked good and didn't take any time.

If you buy both Art Effects and Motion Effect, you get a $40 discount. See:

http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=458264

The signature NewBlueFX stated this:

“Yes, as a matter of fact, we do have an introductory $40 off coupon for our friends in the Vegas community. It applies to purchasing the Art Effects and Motion Effects products together. After placing the two products in the shopping cart, add the coupon: CPNINTROVIDEO.”
