little tiny bulb flashes (sparkles)

i'm wanting to do an effect that seems as though tiny flashbulbs are going off on a pic. now i know how to animate it but i don't know what to use. i use lens flare but it doesn't work cause it has that long line of sun rays and not the single flash sparkle

You could maybe use Particle Illusion and composite the sparkles using "add" so each sparkle made the underlying video brighter.

Isn't it possible to do it using some Media Generator with texture, push the contrast to some degree ('til you get kind af a black sky with stars) and use a few of these different "clips" to create a succession of sparkles? (A little bit like when you go into a big arena and everybody starts to take photos)
