loading video only

Is there a way to load just a Video event without an audio track? A work with a lot of video clips that have no audio to them yet Vegas wants to add a blank audio track to these events. Not that big of a deal really, I usually just delete the audio track when they both load but is there something I'm overlooking? maybe a setting for this somewhere?

Hi cow,

You might try loading into the trimmer first, the using the tab key to select video only... then drag/paste into the TL.

Use the right mouse button to drag a clip to the timeline. When you release the button a menu will appear - one choice is add video only or add audio only. Click video only then select to add across time, as takes, or across tracks. Works in VV3 and VV4.

For what it's worth, VirtualDub has a direct stream copy mode that will strip out the audio from clips (as a batch job too).

The nice thing about it is that it doesn't recompress the footage, it just copies it while discarding the audio. I've used it for DV footage and footage captured to avi with excellent results, I'm not sure how it works with MPEGs though.
