After I'm done editing, I'll update the folder with the current date. This sometimes causes Vegas to complain that it can't find files despite the folder structure around and below the .veg file being unchanged. (Sometimes all just works, and that's awesome, but not the norm.)

The suggestion is, when the file cannot be found, and one select "Specify new file location" or something like that, start the file dialog in the longest left substring of the original path, that is still valid. For instance, in the picture below, instead of starting at Documents, start at \\Diskstation\...\in progress\.

A similar method could be used to enhance the option to search for the files. Include in the options of search locations, the longest left substring of the original path that's still valid. This could help to avoid mistakes while saving time.
