Locking event groups to time

I have edited a 30 minute show from 18 hours of original footage. Now my timeline is on one video track with nothing but transitions and dissolves and cuts between tracks A & B. The next step is to start putting in "Video FX". These Video FX are going to act as transitions.

It would be very nice to be able to "lock" "grouped events" to the timeline so you can move these groups up and down between different Video Tracks without worrying about moving them out of sync.

For example in Photoshop when you hold down the Shift key you can drag things and they tend to stick to the X Y axis where it originated.

I'm a bit confused---if select your tracks, then right click and create a group, then the selected tracks will move as one---just create new video and audio tracks and you can move the group up and down, right to left etc----Was that what you were looking to do?

I am looking at moving clips up and down while they are locked in time. For example I could select a group in track a and movie it to track b withought moving the clips a frame forwards or backwards.

Other things like "lock all clips in this track so you can't drag them open or closed" would be good too.

Move them by using the 8 and 2 keys on the numeric kaypad.

1. Duplicate the track....delete the unwanted parts from either tracks.

2. Turn on "Quantize To Frame", put your cursor at the begining of the event, then ove it to a new track. It will "stick" to the cursor as the starting point.

C. Why do you need to move the events to a new track?
