If I understand you correctly, the quickest way that I've found to
move events, keeping them locked to a specific location on the
timeline, is to use the "8" and "2" on the number keypad, for up and
down respectively.

You can use this with single, multiple, or "grouped events" to move
them vertically and keep them synched with the timeline.
Just "select" the events you want and use the appropriate key to
shift them up or down to the destination tracks.

Be carefull however ... if you move them past the limits at the top,
or the last track at the bottom, some of the events may disappear
on you. This can be a problem when you move four events, but only
have three tracks to contain them at the final top or bottom
destination.

You can also rely on "snapping" to grid, etc., but I've found the
above to be more reliable for keeping relocated events "in time" with
your other events.

If the above is not what you were referring to, then you likely need
to check out "Grouping", and the uses thereof, in the manual.
