Long movies rendered into parts

Because of too much data bogging VMS down, I have been breaking movie into parts. Rendering each part and re-importing into timeline.
It appears that I am loosing quality by doing this vs rendering the enitire movie as a mpeg2 DVD Architect files. What is the best render settings to use when do this.

Export with the "cineform" codec under the custom AVI dialog and you won't be losing quality.

If I understand you correctly, I would render in Video for Window (AVI) and choose "Cineform". I cannot find Cineform under AVI

You may not have cineform installed.

If your original material is all DV then render to DV .avi. The quality loss will be nonexistant or nearly nonexistant.

Except if he added plugins. Cineform is installed on all recent Vegas versions.
