Long standing bug (Vegas 4 and 5)

I work with a lot of GIF files on the time line. If I switch off of Vegas (ALT+TAB) while the GIF's are drawing or re-drawing on the time line Vegas crashes with an exception error. Applies to Vegas 4 and 5.

- It only happens with GIF files.
- It only happens if I switch to another application while the timeline event thumbnails are drawing.

Easy to reproduce:
1) Drop a bunch of GIFs on time line.
2) Save VEG
3) Open VEG
4) While timeline is redrawing switch to another application using ALT+TAB

I have reproduced it on multiple systems over the course of 2 years.

I would recommend NOT pressing the ALT + TAB while your GIF's are re-drawing! ;-)

Any reason for the GIF (which reduce the # of colors), versus the preferred format of PNG?

That coule be a problem. Also, are they a special type (with transparency, etc)?

Nope just your non-animated non-transparent garden variety (rectangular) GIFs exported from Fireworks. About 25K a piece. 665x500

I suppose I could switch to PNG since it also supports indexed color. But for now I use GIFs cuz I know they work for my clients in their web environment.

I would stop ALT+TABbing but I have a short attention span.
