I have been running 32 bit Vegas Pro 9.0c with no problems, but now my XP SP3 Q6600 box seems to be having a problem. When I start Vegas, the splash screen seems to hang up on the "initializing device explorer" phase - it takes 15 or 20 seconds to get past it.
This started after I got my first red screen ever, when I tried to mix some Upshifted mts files with some large jpgs. I expect this is a coincidence.
Could the hesitation be retries on a balky bit of hardware (3 hard disks, 1 for OS, 1 for source material, one for render output). I make regular backups to a fourth hard drive (ESATA). Mobo is ASUS.
