Looking to buy new camera

Currently I'm using a Panasonic DCM SZ1 pocket still camera that will record video at mp4 and does a good job. However, my video camera is a old Pansonic PV-GS320 that only records at 720x480 max. It is a tape system and requires me to capture using a 1394. I would like to buy a new camera where I can just take movies and drop the clips on the time line and output at 16:9 to DVD. There are so many to chose from I'm not sure of what to consider. I don't want to break the bank but I would enjoy hearing from everyone as to what you are using that works well the Sony 12. I know the choice is mine but no one knows best then those who are working with this program. Please make some suggestion? Thanks.

If you/'re just looking to drop video on your timeline and output a DVD, you can't get better than your miniDV camcorder.

But if you're looking to upgrade to high-def, there are hundreds of options. (Your DVD will still be a 720x480 video, of course. That's the nature of DVDs.)

It all depends on what type of video you plan to shoot (ie, if you're a point-and-shoot person or somebody who wants more professional control or interchangeable lenses) and how much you want to spend.
