loop bar difficulty

Widetrack wrote on 7/30/2024, 9:50 PM

Trying to use Vegas 17.0 bld 455 after long absence, and seeing baffling behavior. Most times I click on the bar above the video clips, in order to bring the cursor to that point, the loop bar pops out over the whole length of the project and sets the cursor to 00:00, losing all the positioning I was working at. I turned off the "enable looping on events by default" in preferences, but it doesn't help. I can't find any way to bring it back to "normal" behavior.

Vegas also goes into Expanded track mode about half the time i cut out a clip, and puuts weird faded copies of the clips I've cut out. How can I keep it from entering Expanded Track mode all the time.

I'm just trying to do a simple cut and move edit and can't get anything done.

Help, please.

@Widetrack Hi, the click on the bar at the top problem I had but it was my mouse that was grumpy & double click kept happening, maybe it was old or it was me with too much caffeine n twitchy fingers.

The expanded track 'weird faded copies' are the trimmed parts of your events, even though you've cut them off they're still there, just hidden. In VP22 there's an option in Preferences to turn this double click on the edge off, I don't know if that option is in 17.

Thanks, Gid, but no such item in 17. Is there a way to disable expanded mode? I've never liked it.

Oh. something good happened! I clicked on the red bar on the edge of the click and it un-expanded the track and killed the ghostly images of dead fames. We'll see how long that lasts.

Thanx again for the suggestion

@Widetrack Sorry I don't have 17, I do have that expanded track option turned on tho, yep I double click the edge to open or/& close it. each to their own I guess,

I presume we're talking about the same thing 🤔😂

There's others that will know how to turn it off I'm sure 👍

The Expanded Edit Mode option in Preferences was introduced in Vegas Pro 18's update 4 (build 482).

Is there a way to disable expanded mode?

Unfortunately, no - not even in Internal Prererences. I recall that there was discussion on the forum at the time asking for some means in preferences or internal preferences to turn Expanded Edit Mode on/off.

Double-clicking a video event's L or R edge activates Expanded Edit Mode and double-clicking the red edge exits that mode.

Thanks, Dexcon. Gid: yes, that's the beastie. Yours doesn't have that bloodred bracket on its edge, though. Its ugly but easy to click on and banish it for a while. I also reset vegas to factory settings, and that seems to have fixed the loop bar disfunction. For the moment.

Always appreciate the helpfulness of the Vegas forum!

@Widetrack Hi.

Yours doesn't have that bloodred bracket on its edge, though

It does it's just hard to see, maybe because it's VP22 on a 32" UHD screen 🤷‍♂️

Best of luck with yours.

You could try resetting Vegas.

Widetrack wrote on 8/5/2024, 3:45 PM

Thanks to all for the good suggestions.

I dbl-clckd the red bugger and it went away. then I reset to factory settings and the other weird behavior, like the loop indicator bar thing, are now acting as I like.

Best wishes to y'all!
