Yes, that should be short enough. Your real limit is 1GB. 8 minutes should be well less than 1GB.

I've come accross exactly the same issue for a client, I'd be interested to know how this worked out for you clearvu?

Another thought though, can't you get the DVD player to loop?

Just as an added tip, most DVD players have a chapter repeat and title repeat function. You can "loop" your dvd in this manner.

I kind of thought that was the case, of course then you're at the mercy of what the customer has. My customer only has 8 mins of video to loop but I plan to just duplicate it say 8 times and then have that loop. Its going to run for five weeks non stop so I figure doing this will mean a little less wear and tear on the DVD player.

I did try placing the video as a background for the menu screen, burned a disk, tried it on my player and.....it did not work. Hmm. THen, I figured that the player must be looking for a menu screen link. I added one with no text or picture, made it invisible, added a 2nd page with some video clips. This did work.

So, as a result, I'm getting the 8 minute video to loop. If I want to go to page 2, I just hit enter on the remote and it goes to the 2nd page.

The only strange thing I'm finding now is that the looping video quality is not as good. I have scrolling text at the beginning and it scrolls jittery. It's the exact same clip I'm using on the 2nd page and for what ever reason the one on the 2nd page plays absolutely fine.

Am I donig something wrong? It seems that for whatever reason a background looping video degrades image quality.

Menu backgrounds are always re-rendered. Therefore, it is best, in this case, to start with an AVI file instead of MPEG2.

If I'm understanding you correctly, are you saying that I should render the original data as an AVI file and then import it into DVDA and let it render it?

If I do this then the quality will be right?

Yes. That is what I would try. I believe you will see an increase in quality.

Ok, tried as suggested. From what I can tell, the video quality for the background menu "MAY" be a bit better, but still nowhere as good as the original.

Did as follows: Took the original file created with Vegas using scrolling text, rendered it as AVI, imported into DVDA, and then burned DVD.

Unless I'm missing something, I believe I've done things correctly.

Problem is that there is still a problem with the text scrolling in a jittery fashion.
