Been having this issue on Vegas Pro 15, 17, 20 and 22 with various containers, codecs, compression over the years.
Current computer is a 5950x, sn850x 4tb, rtx3090. However I've had issues with this on other computers as well.
Usually any project over 5+ hours has the last 1/3 of the project video files in the timeline loose sync or get the audio of other video files entirely. This either happens immediately or if i click the timeline at the end again. It's hard to explain so I've attached a video.
When edited down, splitting affected video files in the timeline the issues is still present. So if 8 hours of content is edited down to 30minutes there is still issues with those last files even if they been split.
The files are however fine on their own, it just depends on where they are when imported/dragged to the timeline.
I've tested the avc hevc experimental stuff in I/O settings but that hasn't changed anything.
Someone had this issue or a similar one and managed to solve it? Would be eternally greatful.
