Losing Project

Have a bit of a crisis here.
Just recut project that I lost earlier.
Still haven't figured out how.
After re-editing, I try today to open up the veg file and add some finishing touches and it's not there, again!
Found veg file in Norton unerase file.
I didn't send it there.
I didn't send the earlier lost project there or anywere else that it disappeared.
Not making much on this duplicated effort but still need to deliver.
When I try to recover veg file Norton asks if I want to replace it.
I'm frankly heistant to do anything for fear of losing all that work again.
This is in 8 minute corporate job.
Any thoughts? Anybody?

is the project's .bak file intact?
Dan Sherman wrote on 11/29/2004, 7:30 AM
Where would I search for the .bak file?

.bak file won't open either.
Could there be something seriously wrong with my computer?
Virus, worm?

I would copy the veg file to a couple of different locations for backup.

Then download the free Adaware and scan your PC for spyware and tojans.

Adaware gets rid of everything,---except one data miner that will not go away.
Could that be the problem?
Dan Sherman wrote on 11/29/2004, 10:28 AM
This date miner is called altnet bde.
Should I be worried.

I wouldn't want ANY spyware to remain.

Try this link for more antispyware programs.

Also try spybot 3d, hijack this, cws shredder.

There's tons of these things that can cause problems & not all of the programs get them all.

It doesn't sound like a spyware thing though. Could you have a cleanup app running on your computer?

I uninstalled Norton.
And installed AVG.
Whatever was happening it seem to involved Norton unerase.
Stuff was being dumped into recycle bin and corrupted.
Again thinking seriously of unhooking workstations from internet.

I use the net with no problems. I've always found nortno to be... annoying. I keep mcafee on all the time, but don't have it scan files on acess. Just every day at 2am. That works for me. :)
