Losing thumb nails and white boxes or no menu

andyrpsmith wrote on 8/22/2021, 1:55 PM

I have a bug or problem that appears if I play with the timeline, try and select parts of the time line it will loose the thumb nails and strange things happen with the menu ( white boxes or no drop down) also the audio panel is all blue as seen in the picture. The timeline still plays and shows in preview window.

Screen shot in V18, no issues at all:

Still does it if I save project as V19 and if I turn off thumb nails to none.

Trying another project.

Same with another project.

With no menu control the only thing you can do is kill Vegas.

Not dynamic ram preview as it does it when set to 0 too.

Could this be a memory leak?

Not likely a memory leak. It potentially is some drawing resource that is not being properly released, but we would have seen this elsewhere if that was the case (and we really haven't seen this). This is very strange. We will keep our eyes open on this one.

Many thanks Derek for the reply. This is happening with existing projects which contain, levels, pan/crop, stabilization, fades and music tracks. The media is Sony XAVC MP4, 4K. I will generate a new project in VP19 and apply these functions to see what happens.

It seems it happens on all my projects where the original footage is filmed in 25p and is placed on a 25p timeline and then the project is changed to 24p and then time stretched (ctrl and dragged) to 96% (24/25) which removes any movement stuttering in the video. I do this as I often burn to BluRay which requires 24p video. It looks like the time stretch is the main cause as without this it does not happen as far as I can tell. Does this make any sense?

I’m having the exact same issue. However, I am using my cameras highest quality MP4 1920x1080 60p 35Mbps. Whenever I drag clips in the timeline, the clip thumbnails disappear, parts of the UI go white, the audio level meter turns blue. The menus do not work. The program does not crash or freeze, but I can still play the timeline in the preview window. Also, many times, the timeline stretches vertically to the maximum height and I can only see 1 timeline event at a time. It’s impossible to shrink it down by dragging.

I too have had this issue in the past, but only a couple times and it resolved itself, so I didn't report it, but I can confirm a repro on my end.

I can consistently recreate this issue with time stretch clips totally within V19 (ie not importing V18 projects containing time stretch clips). It is a major issue as it completely disables the menu selections. You have to kill Vegas to recover.
