low framerate - had to reset V15 and V16 and delete cache - again!

Hi all,

after my last issue (where both 15 and 16 sudenly could not cope with XAVC files anymore and dropped to 12 frames) got resolved by resetting Vegas and deleting the cache by holding shift + ctrl on start, both 15 and 16 today started acting up in the exact same manner again. I had a png with a film FX and some text on it, dropping to 4 fps! For some reason, the old film FX applied to a simple png, which never used to be a problem, now makes Vegas 15 & 16 choke down to 4 fps.

Then a bunch of jpgs for a stop motion project, and Vegas continously drops from 25 to 12 fps while going through a sequence of 1980x1280 jpgs at 100 dpi, and I have to solo the track for it not to drop to 3fps on preview / full!

CPU is at barely 14%. So where's the bottleneck?

I also noticed that Vegas took almost a second to start after pressing the spacebar.

Same deletion procedure, and Vegas behaves again. BUT - and here's the thing - after a while, the problems start again. I then have to close vegas, reopen and delete settings and cache...

I really would like to know what's going on here, this issue started after v16 was installed. The annoying thing is that I have to restore all my buttons, shortcuts etc again each time. Anyonme else experiencing this? what could be the problem? At least in my case, something seems to be seriously broken here.

Thanks!
