M-Audio 410 firewire conflicts.

I just ordered an M-Audio 410 to use as sound card with my Vegas Pro 8. I was reading about it and it says often there could be conflicts between it and a firewire camcorder (DV) if hooked up to the same bus. They recommend buying a PCI firewire card for the M-Audio 410 so it can exist on it's own firewire bus.

Anyone ever experience any problems? Do you have them on the same bus?

I have 2 computers working 100% beautifully w/ the 410 and DV via firewire. Very happy w/ the performance. Good luck!

I've got two of these in different computers and, on the recommendation of others on this forum, installed separate firewire cards for each device.
No problems after doing that.

I recently got a M-Audio 410 and initially had hiccups in my audio recording. Turns out it sometimes doesn't get along with the 1394 on the motherboard.

Once I installed an old pci firewire card from a previous computer it works like a charm.

I had some problems also. I forget exactly how it reacted.
I got the dedicated card for the 410 and haven't had any issues since.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Looks like as a general rule it's good to install another PCI firewire card. I do have an old firewire card laying around so maybe I'll try that before I go shelling out another $35 for a new one!

I have a two port FW card. One port for the 410 and the other port for all other firewire uses including a DSR-11 and several drives. Not having any problems.

One extra tip I found out the hard way and not so much with the 410.
XP creates a 1394 network connection on the firewire ports.
Disable them in Control Panel.

Thanks everyone again. I got the 410 running, and I have to admit it was pretty seamless. It occasionally stops working and I need to unplug and replug in the firewire in the back.

What might be making that happen? I haven't disabled that 1394 Network adapter thing in my System Devices. Perhaps that's it?
