m2ts rerendering itself

Why if I put my m2ts in the timeline and render to the same exact setting, why does it have to rerender itself? Other times, it flies and the screen say no recompression needed.
Is there something I am doing wrong?

Select this check box if you want to pass through unedited frames without recompression (smart render) for the following formats:

Apparently AVCHD is not on the list, if I understand this correctly --- are you saying that sometimes you get an AVCHD format to "smart render" ?

Yes, they will smart render sometimes. If the file is on the time, it will start rendering frame by frame, then all of a sudden, it goes into "no recompression required, stops and then goes back to rendering. The file is 1 hour 20 minutes long. It gets about 43% done and then locks up. I will get an error which reads...0x800706be I looked it up on microsoft, downloaded a fix, but it still locks up in the same spot.

perhaps it's simply rendering the open edit points?

if it's at the same place repeatedly - then it's more than likely a problem on the tl; bad clip, graphic or the like....
