MAC File Compatibility

I'm pretty much a MAC idiot. What I don't know is scary and at my age, I'm content with that!

I have some AVCHD 1080i clips that a customer wants to view on her MAC. She says her MAC will not play the .mts files.

Can someone suggest a file type that would likely be compatible with her laptop. I know nothing of her software...and not sure that she knows either.

Thanks!

Render them MainConcept AVC using the Apple TV 720p24 Video template and you should be fine. Feel free to change the template to 30p if the footage wasn't shot in 24p. The Apple iPad/iPhone 4 720p30 Video template is also a good starting point but the 2Mbps bit rate may be too low for viewing on her Mac. I would use 4Mbps average.

When invoking " Render as " in Vegas Pro ( 12) does " h264 " show up as a template?

I don't see it...

Stringer, no it doesn't but I use QT pro to make it.

H264 is short for AVC/H.264 and is found under Sony AVC and MainConcept AVC encoders. Note that unlike other NLE's, Vegas Pro is incapable of creating an AVC/H.264 QuickTime file regardless of whether you purchased QuickTime Pro or not but you can rename your .MP4 file to .MOV and it should work since MP4 is a subset of the QuickTime container.

I've done this several times when a client has asked for an MOV file and no one has questioned it.
