I'm guessing there will never be a Mac version of VV until there is a Mac version of windows, but I have friends who use Final Cut Pro and they really like it.

Have your daughter get the latest Virtual PC (you can install windows on the program) then have her buy Vegas Video... And I heard Final Cut Pro 3.0 is great... Still, I prefer VV3.0

Thanks, fellers. I checked out Final Cut. Looks good but $1000. Yikes! The kid's drained me enough! Will check out Virtual PC. I like SF stuff, I do audio with Acid 3 and Sound Forge 5, and Vegas LE.

something tells me it isn't worth running Vegas on 'VirtualPC'. just a hunch, but I would expect the performance to completely suck.

for the price of FCP you could get Vegas and a decent PC.

Yeah -- avoid the Virtual PC idea.

Final Cut Pro 2, which must be offered at a lower price now that FCPro3 just got out. I just guess...
Auctions on the net maybe ?

... AND she can run Premiere 6 on her Grannysmith-4 too ...

You may want to see if academic discounts are available for students. For example,
http://www.micromasteronline.com/ has Vegas Video 3 for $160. A student ID is all that is required to get the discounts. From that site:
"Educational Institutions: Defined as an accredited school organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes. An accredited school must be: A Public or Private K-12, Vocational School, Correspondence School, Junior College, College, University, Scientific or Technical Institutions accredited by associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the State Board of Education and located in the United States."
