Mackie Control Extenders

PipelineAudio wrote on 2/18/2005, 11:34 PM
Anyone try one of these in conjunction with an MCU?

I think since Sony chose the MCU as the first and (still?) only officially supported surface, that the extender and C4 should also be going.

Lets all email Mackie and Sony and make sure theyre aware that we would love to see uber sized fader surfaces available for vegas!

You can enable the extender support and that we support up to 6 of these. We have not tested because Mackie has not provided units to us to test. This is why we don't expose it or advertise it.

Spot has used the extenders with out any issues reported. I believe he has 3 of them.

I heard that you wanted to buy 8 of these things?

Dude, don't waste your money. If you have any problems whatsoever, you know we wont be able to fix them. They will also likely be issues that you want to be "Pipe's" way of doing things vs the way it just works.

The C4 :
Why? Because maybe the 50 users that have bought one of them may license Vegas? Spend weeks in development just in case somebody buys this boutique control surface that happens to have Vegas?

The C4 isnt so important to me. I guess we can all email mackie and tell them to send you some extenders right?

Were getting the extenders for sure as the Alsihad users like em a lot and so do the cubendo guys. Im justr hoping theyll do well in vegas.

Where did all that come from? "the way it just works" is always a ok with me, if I could just find that way. I really just need the faders, anything you can throw on top of that is a bonus.

LOL!!!, how's input monitoring working for you?
PipelineAudio wrote on 2/21/2005, 10:18 AM
I just use the routing on my soundcard.

When it goes to hardware input monitoring, or I get a LOT more power in a CPU, Ill be using Vegas' input monitoring. Its too glitchy for me right now.

...that was indeed an offhand comment!

Sounds like your studio is picking up a bunch of those bad boys. Please post your results. I'm using a Tascam 1884 with MCU Emulation...it would be nice to know how well extenders work, might get one or two.

Does the MCU have a master fader?
PipelineAudio wrote on 2/23/2005, 7:55 AM
MCU has a master fader. Im going to get 3 extenders for the MCU I have now, then another MCU and three more extenders for the other room. The C4 looks promising.

I have a problem with controlling plugs on the MCU since when you have to "page switch" te parameters, many times parameters that belong on the same page end up on different ones :(

I have the same issues with paging, but for the mostpart once you get used to things it's OK. I have a little Edirol and an x-session for plugs and stuff...

The plug in vendor defines the order, not us. There is no mechanism to us to "dermine" what belongs to what or any implied order or grouping.

would there be a way to scroll one parameter at a time?

No.

Question,
I am new to control surfaces though I knwo how to run them. My questions is this though. How do you enable the Mackie XT Extender to run with the MCU brain in Vegas 6. Do you go in and under the list where you add control surfaces just keep adding Mackie or Generic surfaces then configure which channels they use. I am in need of a little help. Thanks :)
