Main Concept - No Templates?

Hudrox wrote on 12/17/2003, 12:59 PM
I have registered my Main concept encoder plug in with Vegas 4. I've rendered and saved mpg projects, set markers / chapter points and burned DVD's successfully in DVD-Architect. Today, I tried to render a Vegas 4 project as a Main Concept mpg 2 and it tells me there are no templates available. It also won't let me open previously saved MC-mpg2 files. It says they are unsupported. PLEASE HELP ! ! ! Thanks

I've only gotten this "error" when I have had only audio and no video on the timeline. Doublt check that.

yep - Audio and video. The error reads "No existing templates support this media" I've tried to open older projects and started new ones. It will render to an avi but not to MC mpg2.

have you, by any chance, just installed Soundforge7?
I had an identical problem. If you did just install new Sony software, you'll need to uninstall/re-install everything, including Vegas and BE SURE to follow all the default directory/file locations.

This drove me crazy 'til i figured it out.
BTW, even calls to Sony Customer Support didn't identify this problem. I figured it out with the great help of this forum.

I'm running Windows 2000, so there's no system restore. The most recent thing I've installed is Quick Time. I'm trying to avoid un/re-installing Vegas. If I do reinstall, will I be able to use the same Main Concept registration code I used initially or will I need to re-register?

Here's how to avoid uninstalling Vegas (so you don't lose your prefs and don't have to re-register):

1. Uninstall Sound Forge 7.
2. Find the location of your MPEG and MP3 plug-ins on your hard drive. Delete the MCMPEG folder and the MP3 folder. You can use About in the Render As dialog to find where they are located.
3. Delete the audio plug-ins folder (a folder named Audio a couple of levels up from MCMPEG and MP3).
4. Do a repair install of Vegas.

If you install Sound Forge 7, make absolutely sure the shared plug-ins will be installed in a Sony folder (so they don't overwrite the Sonic Foundry plug-ins).
