Main Menu Templarte Size

I render my individual videos to 720x480 mpeg 2 and when I paly in preview in Architect they look fine but the main menu screen has black areas on left and right of the screen as if the main menu screen is not set for widescreen. I'd like to set the working area's main screen to wide screen in design mode so i can spread the menu out.
I've looked everywhere and don't know where to set this property.

Is your main video set up for 16:9? I assume so, since it sounds as though only the menu pages are being seen in 4:3.

Go to your project's File menu and select Properties. On the Properties option screen, you'll see a drop-down for selecting Video Format. Set it to 720x480 Widescreen.
