Make DVD --->Not Responding

(Sorry for the duplicate post from the DVD Architect forum, but maybe somebody here can help me with this.)

I'm running DVDA ver 5 (build 128) on Windows 7 64 Pro. I just added this ext case/DVD burner:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118067

Connected with a USB2 cable - NOT the included USB 3 cable. Windows regognized it right away. I can use the drive to play CDs and DVDs with Windows Media Player, and to burn data DVDs using Nero. When I try "Make DVD", DVDA says "not responding" and freezes. (Note: CD Architect 5.2 freezes during "scanning for CD devices", too.) If I power off this ext case/burner, DVDA and CDA work fine using my internal DVD burner. Windows Device Manager recognizes the ext device correctly (Optiarc DVD RW AD7280S USB Device) and has the latest drivers. Sony and Bytecc websites list no necessary drivers or firmware at all - none needed. Basically, the ext case/burner device is working, but has a conflict with DVDA and CDA. Also, in DVDA, I tried options--->preferences---> checked the box "skip drive database; auto detect drive capabilities" and it didn't help or hurt the situation. I'm stuck... Thank you !!!

I'd love to help you with this problem having experienced the same thing myself. Sadly, it happened so long ago now that I can't remember the exact solution but I'm almost certain that it was in some way related to Nero and more specifically to InCid (?) included in the Nero suite.
My burner works just fine now and I can no longer find InCid (?) on my system so that may well be it. Can't promise mind you so no guarantees although I'm fairly certain that is what was causing the problem.

I had a similar problem with another NLE, also due to Nero's "InCD", if I recall.

Another idea -
Try going to Control Panel > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM Drives and disable the internal burner. Then try again.

No Nero InCD. Tried disabling int burner, still "not responding" to new ext burner...
