Right click on the audio event. Then Channels, then Combine. Sound will come out of both your speakers.

Or.....if you are like a lot of us with other SoFo Products....take the audio track into Vegas Audio or SoundForge (I like using Acid, though) - and make it a stereo file (multiple tracks...one left, one right) - throw in some compression...a little reverb....salt to taste....then export as WAV or MP3 - import back into VV....sit back and eat some Chilli!!

Good morning everyone,
Within V4, can one separate a stereo track into two mono tracks?
TIA,
Randy

I think it goes like this:
Make another copy of the track, set one to left channel only and the other to right channel only.
Haven't worked out yet how to put them back as a stereo pair.
If anyone else has mastered this I'd like to know how.

Yes. Duplicate the stereo track on the timeline. Righclik one and select channels>left only. Rightclick the other and select channels>right only.
You now have the original left channel playing mono on one track, the original right playing mono on another. Played together they will sound like one mono track (the two original combined).

Thanks Farss, that should work fine( why didn't I think of that?!)...I don't think I would even need to put it back in a stereo file, as the render would do that for me, right?
Thanks again,
Randy

Onliest way I know of outside a separate audio app is to render a stereo audio file using your left and right sources as in other posts. Doesn't take long, except maybe to render the peaks in Vegas when you bring in the new file, delete the old etc.

Bit of an extra step but more convenient perhaps applying envelopes and such, & if you're like me and like to massage the audio separately as one file, not a big deal at all.

Thanks guys,
I shot a 3 shot interview with a stereo pair on an overhead boom. After I got it into V4, I discovered that the person on the right was on the left channel and vice-versa. I was wondering the best way to switch that. After separating, I suppose I can just pan appropriately.
Thanks again guys,
Randy

uhhhh... probably should say you could swap them in Sound forge using the channel convertor...

or right click the audio track and click swap channels in Vegas.

Why didn't you say what you wanted to do in the first place? Swap channels? Rightclick, select channels>swap.
