Making a movie of computer tasks

I want to use Vegas to make a training movie that incorporates PC keystrokes and software sequences much like the excellent Vegas training video put out by Gary Kleiner. Any suggestions as regards the software needed for the screen capture sequences? Also any other tips would be appreciated. I am new at this.

Get Camstudio, it will record anything that goes on, on your desktop and it saves it in a AVI file, or a few other formats that you can specify.

Download a free copy of "Microsoft Media Encoder" It is a great product
that can do exactly what you want as well as stream live video etc..

Hope this helps,

Thank you for the compliment.

I used Camtasia.

Gary--I haven't bought your DVD's but what kind of quality do you get when using that software---Is the resolution decent--Are the images sharp?

Rex,

Sorry, I only give that information to paying customers...;-)

But seriously folks....

I am verry happy with the results. As I get more adept at using Camtasia, the better I like it. There is a fair amount of rendering time if you are making a video. Reduce interlace flick er must be applied and the initial capture has to be converted from progressive to interlaced, and the image size should be resized from larger-than-NTSC for best results.

I am working on a new video now, and am very pleased with the screen shots.

Maybe you could have a look at this app (I think it's called "wink") at www.debugmode.com
