I didn't read through every reply, but do NOT use the "Default Template" when rendering to MPEG-2 in Vegas. Instead, use one of the DVD Architect templates. The problem with the Default template is that the "Video Quality" slider is set to 15 instead of 31. This makes a huge difference in quality. Why Sony chose to give you a crummy setting for the default is beyond me, but that's what they did.

I have found that wioth vegas a quicktime file (.mov) in full animation (no compression) looks exponentially better on a dvd rather than an mpg2. Less apt to be wavey.....much higher quality. hope it helps.

I'm assuming that you mean it looks better on a disc going to your TV as opposed to just playing the mpg2 in the timeline or the DVD-A preview. This is probably a true statement. Mpg2 will not really play in the timeline and they play kind of jerky in DVD-A. I don't see my stuff totally smooth until it's on a disc.
