Making simple cuts on a Macbook Pro

I have a beefy pc to do my main editing with Vegas Pro 16.
I also have a reasonably high-end Macbook Pro.
I want the facility to be able to make simple cuts and edits (just to remove the stuff I don't need) on my Macbook whilst I'm travelling, in order to save the files and do the main work on my desktop with Vegas Pro.
Does anyone have any advice or a similar workflow they'd like to share?

To avoid wasting anyone's time, I think I already found a solution!
I'm posting this just in case anyone is interested, or has a similar requirement.
I just downloaded the free version of DaVinci Resolve.
Without reading any help files I just jumped straight in and put some footage on the timeline and made some rough cuts. It is not dissimilar to Vegas for making simple edits.
Exported the file as an H265 which was a preset, I haven't found out how to make a custom export yet.
It worked perfectly, I just have to test the file in Vegas to make sure everything is ok, but, so far, it seems to be exactly what I was looking for.
EDIT:
The H265 footage was choppy and unusable on the Vegas timeline but I found out how to export an MP4 and it worked fine in Vegas.
