Managing big projects

For all the VV5 experts out there,

Can someone give me a tip on how to manage big projects with lots of tracks? I searched on the forum and saw the posting on editing large movie project but still don't quite understand how to do it, so pardon my ignorance if I have to ask again. I'm doing a short kid drama soundtrack (audio only as of now) in Vegas 5. The play is about 40 min and it's broken down into 7 scenes with 5 songs in it.

I break the projects into smaller chunk, based on the scenes (one project per scene), and also one song / project. The thing is later on, as I have the video clip (after the play), I want to be able to mix them in 5.1. Is there any way I can combine all these projects into one project once I'm done with the editing and mixing? Actually I also need to do this mixing all the projects into one for timing purpose between one scene to the next one. So how can I do this? Is it possible at all (combining projects)? Or do you have any other suggestions how to accomplish this better? Thanks.

Just wondering if this is the answer I'm looking for (from Spot)?

Is there a faster way to import on specific timing etc.?

You'll just need to open multiple iterations of Vegas, copy/paste from each iteration into the "master" timeline. This is what I do for larger projects. You'll have total, root level access to everything from every other project. The only thing that won't carry over is track-based or project based FX.

OK I guess this should be on the feature request for Vegas 6 probably. To have all the FX intact when they are imported.

Thanks Spot.

They are all intact unless they're track-based.
