MANY QUESTIONS! I NEED ANSWERS! PLEASE HELP!

1. Can I throw away all of the .sft files cluttering up my "capture folder"?

2. Why doesn't the "Explorer" window update when files are added or changed to my "Capture" folder.

3. When I close the Capture Application (Sonic Foundry Capture Application 4.0), why am I asked whether or not I want "to save changes" to the "Default.sfvidap" file? What is the default.sfvidcap file anyway?

4. Somtimes when I capture video and give the clips unique names, why does it Vegas sometimes change the names "clip 001" etc.?

MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATION!

I have a clip that is a few minutes long. Within that clip there are various parts (or sub clips) that I would like to give their own name and organize in their own folders. The problem is I can't do that in Vegas!! If I capture a clip, that's it, I can't make a copy of it, give it a different name, and put it in a different folder.

For example: One captured clip has John "walking" and John "running". Vegas makes me choose a name for it. If I choose John "walking" and then I go looking for a clip of John "Running", I'm not going to find John "Running" even though I have a clip of John "Running" in the "John Walking" clip. What I would like to do is make a selection from John "Walking" and save it as a new clip called "John Running" OR I would like to copy the "John Walking" clip and name it "John Running". This would make it much easier for me to find things and keep me from recapturing material I already have in the computer!

VERY FRUSTRATING TO ME!

Also, I still haven't found a way to put bins in the order of my choosing.

Anyone care to offer suggestions to my problems?

.sft is a new one for me but I would hazard a guess that the answer is yes. Definitely the .sfk files are safe to delete (which will be re-created when a clip is opened).

2. Why doesn't the "Explorer" window update when files are added or changed to my "Capture" folder.
Good question. I'm just in the habit of pressing the refresh button.

3. When I close the Capture Application (Sonic Foundry Capture Application 4.0), why am I asked whether or not I want "to save changes" to the "Default.sfvidap" file? What is the default.sfvidcap file anyway?
It saves a record of the files you just captured so that, should the need arise, you can perform an identical capture again.

4. Somtimes when I capture video and give the clips unique names, why does it Vegas sometimes change the names "clip 001" etc.?
Do you have scene detection on? That would be the next scene. If you are using batch capture, as soon as you add a clip to the capture list, the "name" for the next clip is appended with "clip 001"

MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATION!

You can use the trimmer and create and save regions. You can also name those regions. Then, in the explorer window, you can view the regions separately.
