Marty! : Pan-Crop Path tutorial: when?

Hey Marty, when will you finalise your tutorial on Pan-Crop Path?
I'm caught with a sequence that uses it a lot and it's really hard to get a full fluid motion without those "square shifts" that happen on the key points... I've played with the type of movements for the keys (i.e.: smooth, linear, etc...) but there's still some to be done to get a linear and continuous motion...

Tyler.Durden wrote on 4/2/2003, 9:58 AM
Hi Futz,

.Veg files can be sent as email attachments... most veggies are small.

Yes, ok, but I shuld send the video files with it,no? Like what we see on Sundance site. Now this is gonna need some space, ain't it?... Do I have to use the "save with media files" options then compress or what?

Hi futz,

You don't need to send media to let someone see the keframes on an event... events just serve as portals or containers to any media. I can put any media on hand into the events to see the KF actions.

Great.
But, those who post their vegs to Sundance (with media) must put a lot of time to do this, no? And Sundance must have hell of a big server to contain allo of these images?

Ok Marty, I just sent you the .veg file at yahoo...

Hi Futz,

I looked at the .veg to see the motion in the Pan/crop.

The main thing I see is the amount of change in the P/C is greater in the second segment.

Just like travel, D=RT or R=D/T... so if your change in one section is greater but the space between the keyframes is about the same (T), the apparent rate is faster, causing an apparent "lurch" in the motion.

By spacing the second and third keyframes wider (more time) the action appears smoother, especially if the message is some sort of landing or arrival.
