masking

Me again, another dopey question. I was watching this video:

At the time I didn't catch that it was for an older version. Anyway, that vid talks about masking (the picture frame trick), Is this possible in 14? And isn't it the same as PIP?

I didn't watch the tutorial. Everything what could be done in 13 can also be done in 14.

The video is about Vegas Pro. That masking is not in Movie Studio.

That masking is not in Movie Studio. That makes sense. I should have noticed that but I thought platinum (which is what I have) was above Vegas Pro?

Last changed by set on 8/28/2017, 9:03 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

Reason: (edit for clarity)

The last time I kept an open mind,
my brain fell out and the dog grabbed it.
Now it's full of dirt, toothmarks, and dog slobber.
No more open minds or dogs for me.

No. Platinum is the full or best version of Movie Studio intended for consumer/amateur hobbyist video makers. Vegas Pro is way above and intended for professional video makers. A look at the price differences would tell you that.

In ascending order of cost and functionality:

  • Vegas Movie Studio
  • Vegas Movie Studio Platinum (has more features/add-ons + DVD Architect)
  • Vegas Movie Studio Suite (= Vegas Movie Studio Platinum + more add-ons)
  • Vegas Pro Edit (= just Vegas Pro. More features than Vegas Movie Studio)
  • Vegas Pro (= Vegas Pro + DVD Architect and a couple of add-ons)
  • Vegas Pro Suite (= Vegas Pro + DVD Architect and more add-ons)

I bought 14 platinum which I thought was mid range. That's why I thought it would do everything Movie Studio cn do. It's no problem though. can use Vegas and Madix movie Edit Pro back and both to get the results I need.

I'd like to have Vegas Pro Suite but can't justify the cost since everything I do is free.

Switching gears a bit... are thee any site that I can get more FX and transitions free or cheap that people trust that I can pillage?
